Hey, I'm Augustijn, an independent consultant and solution architect based in the Netherlands.

I help commerce teams make better technical decisions, improve their platforms and tackle challenges that don't always have straightforward solutions.

My background is in development, but these days my work goes beyond writing code. I advise, design solutions and get involved in making them happen.

Experience

Outside of work

When I'm not working, I enjoy being outdoors, especially hiking, running and travelling.

I love exploring new places, whether that's a mountain trail, a new city or somewhere I've never even heard of before.

A few other things about me:

  • Before working in tech full-time, I spent several years as a sushi chef. I still enjoy making sushi, just not for eight hours straight.
  • I used to skateboard quite a bit. I still own one, although these days it's more of an art piece than something I actually ride.
  • In August and September 2026, I drove over 6,000 kilometres through Central Europe in about six weeks in my Hyundai. Somehow, both the car and I made it back in one piece.
  • During that same trip, I hiked 120 kilometres in six days, including 40 km with a fully loaded backpack. Loved the hiking, not so much carrying everything. Next time, I'll stick to day hikes or hut-to-hut trails.
  • I can spend way too much time looking at maps and reading about places I've never been.
